Designer fabrics by technical properties

Not only the appearance decides whether a fabric matches a design, but also its technical properties. Important criteria include for example wrinkle resistance, stretchability, opacity, breathability, shape retention, or robustness. At Stoffgroßhandel Armbrüster you can specifically select Italian designer fabrics based on such requirements.

A pattern only looks coherent if the fabric fits it technically. Should a model remain smooth, move with the wearer, or have a clean silhouette? Such questions often determine the quality of the result—often more than color or pattern.

Wrinkle-resistant fabrics for a polished impression

Wrinkle-resistant fabrics are suitable for models that should look smooth and calm even after prolonged wear. This is especially important for business wear, travel wardrobes, and evening wear. Qualities like crepe, microfiber, or Romanit keep their shape neat for longer.

Stretch fabrics for comfort and fit

As soon as close-fitting silhouettes or freedom of movement are required, stretchable fabrics come into play. They fit snugly to the body without restricting movement. Jersey, Romanit, or Techno Jersey give patterns more flexibility.

Opaque fabrics for secure models

Opaque fabrics are important when transparency is not desired. They make dresses, skirts, and pants look more closed and professional. Dense satin, doubleface, or bouclé provide security here.

This is how working with us works

Why our Italian designer fabrics convince technically

Our fabrics come mainly from Italy and are developed for high-quality fashion. Many are designer deadstock from limited stocks and combine technical function with a high-quality appearance. Because properties like drape, stretch, or opacity are best assessed in person, our field representative brings samples of all fabrics to an appointment so you can evaluate them in peace.

Frequently asked questions about technical fabric properties

Which fabrics are wrinkle resistant?

Wrinkle-resistant fabrics are mainly crepe, microfiber, Romanit as well as viscose and polyester blends with a bit of elastane. They stay smooth even after longer wear and are suitable for business wear, travel wardrobes, and evening wear.

Which fabrics are stretchable?

Stretchable fabrics are jerseys in their various forms, Romanit, Techno Jersey, scuba, elastic woven fabrics, and stretch denim. They support close-fitting patterns and provide freedom of movement.

Which fabrics are opaque?

Opaque fabrics are, for example, dense satin, Romanit, heavier viscose qualities, coat fabrics, doubleface, as well as bouclé and tweed. They make models look more closed and calm.

Which fabrics are breathable?

Breathable fabrics are mainly natural fibers like cotton, viscose, modal, silk, wool, and linen. They are comfortable on the skin and regulate warmth well.

Which fabrics are shape-retaining for tailoring?

For tailoring and sharp contours, shape-retaining fabrics like jacquard, brocade, doubleface, and techno jersey are suitable. They keep their shape and enable clean edges.

How do I select fabrics by technical properties?

First, consider what the model needs to do: stay wrinkle-resistant, stretch, be opaque, or keep its shape. Fabric choice depends on that. The safest way is to test the properties on the original fabric.

Can I test the fabrics on site?

Yes. At an on-site appointment, our field representative will bring samples of all fabrics. This way you can directly test how a material drapes, stretches, wrinkles, or looks in terms of opacity. You can order the qualities as fabric by the meter from 6 meters per fabric.

Our wholesale range for the autumn/winter collections offers fabrics made from similar materials, but generally warmer, heavier, and more focused on wool fabrics. Virgin wool fabrics are often blended here with cotton, silk, angora, mohair, or cashmere. Each collection also includes fabrics made from high-quality synthetic and microfibers, often designed as functional fabrics for outdoor clothing.
